December 30 Update Graphic

December 30, 2020

Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families and Staff,

I hope each of you are having a safe and enjoyable holiday break. I am thankful that 2020 is almost over and anxious to see what 2021 brings.

Just a reminder that due to our Marion County and local COVID-19 data, we will begin the second semester in the VIRTUAL model. All Warren students will return to their VIRTUAL classrooms on Monday, January 4th. K-5 students will remain VIRTUAL until Friday, January 15th with a return to IN-PERSON or 100% VIRTUAL on Tuesday, January 19th.

Families with students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade can now request their second semester learning model choice, IN-PERSON or 100% VIRTUAL. The request forms are linked on each school’s website and will be available until Friday, January 8th at 3:00 PM. To create a consistent experience as possible for our students and families, this will be the last opportunity to request a change for the 2020-21 school year. We will not accept requests once the request window closes.

Students in grades 6th - 12th grade will remain 100% VIRTUAL until Friday, February 12th with a return to HYBRID IN-PERSON / VIRTUAL on Wednesday, February 17th. Tuesday, February 16th is a scheduled eLearning day for K-12 students.

Families with students in grades 6th - 8th grade will be able to request  their second semester learning model choice, HYBRID IN-PERSON / VIRTUAL  or 100% VIRTUAL starting on Friday, January 15th until Friday, January 29th at 4 PM. The request forms will be linked on each school’s website. Similar to K-5,  this will be the last opportunity to request a change for the 2020-21 school year.

Since we are starting a new semester, students and families may need to pick up new materials for their classes. Details on these distributions will be shared in school newsletters.

Starting next week, food distributions will go back to Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Moorhead Community Resource Center, Warren Central High School, Creston, Raymond Park, and Stonybrook Intermediate Middle Schools. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chartwells and all of the volunteers that have been a part of these. Please be on the lookout for some short fun videos that will accompany the food menus being distributed.

As I reflect on 2020, I would like to say thank you for your trust and support this calendar year. We could not have accomplished as much as we have without it! Enjoy the remainder of your holiday break and have a safe and Happy New Year!

Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
