It's Black History Month! We know Black History matters and should be taught all year around, and this month, we are taking more time to highlight the accomplishments +successes of Black people, as well as discuss the innumerable systemic hardships Black people have endured.

1949:the Indiana General Assembly passed a law requiring the state to begin integrating schools. Marion County did not begin taking action steps to expand integration until 1981. It's only been 40 years of intentional, active integration in Indiana. 40. Years. #BlackHistoryMonth

Black History Matters.

Today, and every single day, we are thankful for Miss K and all she does for our students at Hawthorne. Happy Counselor's Week Miss K!

Barack Obama was the 1st Black person & person of color to serve as the President of the United States. In his 8 year presidency, he was a champion for equality, fought for affordable healthcare, and rescued the economy from the Great Recession. #BlackLivesMatter #BlackHistory

We are so thankful for our counselors everywhere, but especially our very own, Ms. Kauth and Ms. Kaitlyn.......
Thank you will never be enough.....You are appreciated!

Kamala Harris is the first woman of color to serve as the Vice President of the United States. The daughter of immigrants from Jamaica&India, Harris has served as an attorney & US senator. She is truly the embodiment of the American dream. #BlackLivesMatter #BlackHistory

"This critical moment calls for a recommitment to teaching an accurate, uplifting and complete Black history." We are looking forward to exploring inclusion, equity, and anti-racism at Hawthorne, not just this month, but every day #BlackLivesMatter #BlackHistory

A special happy Counselor's Week to our very own, Ms. K and Miss Kaitlyn. We appreciate all they do for our kids on a daily basis!!!
