DECEMBER PARENTS NIGHT OUT is coming up! This Friday, December 15, have your student join their peers for fun winter activities and snacks while you get a night to yourselves! use the QR code or this LINK: https://forms.gle/yL3SvMXvx9d8T4gm8 to get your pre-registration discount!

Here at Hawthorne, it's not only our students that participate in learning. Just about every Wednesday, our staff gathers and participates in Professional Development to continuing bettering ourselves and school! We're helping our students see the importance of lifelong learning!

It's never too late to celebrate COREtastic students like these ones!! Congratulations to these Hawks for being CORE students of the week last week (week of 12/4-12/8). We're so proud of you. Keep up the amazing CORE!

DON'T FORGET!!! This Wednesday, December 13, is the SCHOLASTIC BOOKFAIR! Kids who read for pleasure are likely to do better in school. Self-selected reading is twice as powerful as teacher-selected reading in developing motivation and comprehension.

In case you missed our littlest performers last night, here are some pictures of their Christmas Program! Thank you to Hawthorne's fabulous Music Teacher, Mrs. Wynn, for another fabulous (and adorable) festive concert!

Tonight at sundown starts the eight-night holiday of Hanukkah. Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate, we hope you have a festive Holiday of Lights!

*REMINDER* The Scholastic Book Fair is Coming!
Wed, Dec 13th - Tues, Dec 19th in the Hawthorne Media Center
Did you know? The Power of Choice: Children who read for pleasure are likely to do significantly better in school than their peers who rarely read. Self-selected reading (aka choice!) is twice as powerful as teacher-selected reading in developing motivation and comprehension.
Browse the catalog, watch book trailers, and set up an eWallet for your student all from our book fair's homepage:

BIG NEWS!!!!! Get ready to empower your reader with book choice! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming back to Hawthorne from December 13-19, 2023. We will be holding a special shopping event during Hawthorne PTA's Parent's Night Out, Friday, December 15th, 2023 from 5-8pm.

We miss the warm sun, that's for sure, but please remember that we may still go outside for recess so it's important that you student brings their gear for cold weather.

At Hawthorne, we focus on the whole-child - for EVERY child. Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Today, especially, we wanted to take the time to celebrate the diverse population at Hawthorne and all of the beauty each and every mind brings to our school.

Happy Saturday! Here is the lunch calendar for the month of December.

Today is the first day of December! Whether you're celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, or simply celebrating your family and life, we want you know we are cheering you on! Happy December from Hawthorne Elementary!

Well, we're officially a week out from Thanksgiving, with celebrations of gratitude still in full effect! Ms. Deegan's class took one for the team and tasted sweet potato pie! THEY LOVED IT!!!

These lucky turkeys managed to survive Thanksgiving thanks to their disguises given to them by our Hawthorne Hawks! We hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend as much as these turkeys did!

Our 4th grade students were rewarded for their love of reading, today at Butler University's Hinkle Fieldhouse! We watched Butler's Women's Basketball team dominate their opponent and cheered them on the entire way! It's a fun day to be a Hawk!

Today is WORLD KINDNESS DAY!!! Maybe you show kindness by giving someone who is sad a hug, or sharing a meal with someone you love! What are you going to do today, on World Kindness Day, to show kindness to yourself and others?

Help our Hawks reach our school's PTA Membership drive goal!! Be as active or inactive in Hawthorne's PTA while always having your voice heard!

Ms. Deegan's class held their first Foodie Friday in the new third grade classroom!!! Last week, Ms. Deegan had them all try a pumpkin roll and they wrote their thoughts and feelings about them! Safe to say, the third graders enjoyed it as much as the adults did!

Today is Ada Lovelace Day! That means today we celebrate women in STEM. Thank you Ms. Terry for the wonderful example you set for our Hawks, but especially our female Hawks who know they can dream big and aspire to work in the STEM field!
