Last May, our Hawthorne Hawks had a blast learning from the brave men and women of the Indianapolis Fire Department!
The excitement continues! The firefighters are coming back to Hawthorne on October 30th for the Firefighter Olympics! Students can’t wait to cheer, learn, and take part in fun challenges with our local heroes.
It’s always a highlight when the fire truck rolls in and our kids’ faces light up! There’s something about firefighters: their gear, their heart, and their commitment that inspires every single Hawk.

What a fun-filled week it has been! Along with all the excitement, students kept learning at the center of it all. From lively discussions to hands-on activities, they were engaged, curious, and eager to grow every step of the way. We are so proud of their hard work and enthusiasm!
The CORE students of the quarter were celebrated with an extra recess and popsicles!

CORE week is fun for everyone!
ML 4th graders attended a Celebration on Friday with Bingo, Games and other fun activities.
This week, we’ve seen so much teamwork, focus, and celebration of success across all grade levels.
Second-grade students worked so hard sorting words by sound spelling as well as answering comprehension questions in complete sentences.
Next week is CORE week and the last week before fall break.
