We’re thrilled to have our students back in the building this week! They’ve done an amazing job jumping right back into learning after the break. From diving into their CKLA readers to solving “On My Own” problems on their dry-erase boards, our Hawks are focused and engaged. Keep soaring, Hawks! ❤️🖤

Each year, we were honored to welcome back our former Hawthorne Hawks for one final walk through the halls before they cross the stage to receive their diplomas.
Seeing them return reminds us that every moment at Hawthorne is a vital step in their “Journey of a Graduate.” The lessons learned, friendships built, and values lived here shape the future success of each and every Hawk.
To our current students: one day, this will be your walk. Keep striving for Civility, Order, Respect, and Excellence in all that you do; because your journey is already underway.
Last May, our Hawthorne Hawks had a blast learning from the brave men and women of the Indianapolis Fire Department!
The excitement continues! The firefighters are coming back to Hawthorne on October 30th for the Firefighter Olympics! Students can’t wait to cheer, learn, and take part in fun challenges with our local heroes.
It’s always a highlight when the fire truck rolls in and our kids’ faces light up! There’s something about firefighters: their gear, their heart, and their commitment that inspires every single Hawk.

These students are wholeheartedly focused on their CKLA reading materials. CKLA is the centerpiece of tier one reading instruction in each classroom. If families would like to know more about CKLA: https://amplify.com/caregiver-hub/amplify-ckla/ Enjoy.
Then & Now 2010 or 2025! Same Hawthorne pride, same bright smiles, same unstoppable energy! We are proud of the generations of Hawks growing, learning, and leading with Civility, Order, Respect, and Excellence.
Once a Hawk, always a Hawk. #HawkNation #HawksWill

Happy Fall Break. Here are two ideas for families: *Indianapolis Public Library System: Check the schedules for free story times, programs, and to visit indoor play areas like the one at the Hancock County Library. https://bit.ly/46WNYPk *Garfield Park: Explore the park's trails, and visit the Conservatory. https://bit.ly/42oY6PG

We are so proud to recognize the amazing students who make up our Assistant Principal’s Team! These students consistently demonstrate our CORE values—Civility, Order, Respect, and Excellence—while working hard in their classrooms. Every day, they take on important tasks around the building and serve as role models for their peers. They truly represent the very best of what it means to be a Hawthorne Hawk, and we couldn’t be prouder of the young leaders they are becoming.
Assistant Dupree is always looking to grow the team. Any 4th grader interested in joining should strive to exhibit CORE to the fullest and ask their teacher for a reference. This is a great opportunity to show leadership, responsibility, and pride in being part of HawkNation.
Please join us in celebrating our current AP’s Team and encouraging future leaders to step up and shine!
